CS4ALL
Computer Science 4 All (CS4ALL)
In September 2015, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced CS4All, a 10-year initiative to scale computer science education to 100% of the city’s public schools. By 2025, all New York City public school students will receive at least one meaningful, high-quality CS learning experience at each school level. M.S. 101 is lucky to be one of the first cohorts to participate in this increasingly important initiative.
We currently have 3 CS-trained teachers and over 10 classes and an after school club participating in the CS4All program. Our students have been using Scratch, a coding program developed by MIT, to create a variety of projects. They use problem-solving and mathematical-thinking skills to create coding projects like games and short story scenes.
We plan on scaling our CS4All initiative up in the 2019-20 school year so ensure that all students have access to this incredible opportunity.
